BEHIND THE SCENES
This project was so magical! We started off carving the stocks of the mushrooms - sculpting polystyrene blocks with an electrical wire cutter - then sanding them down and covering them with Jesmonite. To create the mushroom heads, we vacuum- formed thin perspex sheets and painted a bright red, translucent wash from the inside. Once the stocks and head were made, we ran a lighting system through the final piece to bring everything to life.
The well consisted of a two parts; a circular poly base covered in concrete and then carved into hyper-realistic brickwork and a well cover crafted out of wood.
