Commissioned by EL&N Café for Christmas 2021, in partnership with Early Hours Ltd.
OUR BRIEF
EL&N were looking to recreate the famous Duncan's Toy Chest display featured in Home Alone, which only meant one thing; Millennial-Pink-everything!
THE GIFTS
The gifts were made from scratch using offcuts of previously used polystyrene blocks, as not to waste any material. They were then wrapped - just as you would a present - and sealed with glue. We sanded them, primed them, spray painted them and then embellished them with hand-made bows to really give that Christmas effect.
THE CHEST
After having made the gifts, we spent a couple days scouring London (and the web) for some of our main props - the teddy bear, the mannequin and the chest. The clown was entirely hand crafted.
THE MODELLING
Having found all of our main supports, we commenced the modelling of the clown and father Christmas' face. Using a polystyrene mannequin head as the base, we covered it using Modroc - which looked quite psychopathic at first. Once dried sculpted the face using clay and let it set before hand-painting on the features. We had so much fun making these and think they really brought the ensemble to life.
