What a pleasure to have made our first Christmas display for this high-end restaurant. Commissioned to create 8 main props, we found this project required a lot of good time management, long hours and above all passion.
THE MAKING OF...
All of the presents, Santa Claus' bag and the star on top of the four meter tall tree were created using a polystyrene base covered in Jesmonite - sanded, painted and sealed. Santa's list consisted of a flexiply secured to a wooden base in the desired position, then primed, painted and sealed to withstand harsh weather. The North Pole signs were made out of plywood and then intricately painted to reflect the Christmas theme (and of course direct customers to Santa's nearest office). The sleigh - pictured above - was hand crafted and painted. The analog "countdown to Christmas" clock was intricately designed, rendered and laser cut out of MDF. Last but not least, the gigantic tree entrance was carved using a poly cutter and metal brushes. It was later painted to green, sealed and handed over to the Early Hours team to decorate.
